Local Orienteering Meet at Tyler
State Park / Bucks County
Community College
Sunday, March 14, 2010
10 AM to 1 PM
Come give orienteering [the sport of navigation] a try at Tyler State
Park either as an unit or as a family activity.
Other than the annual October Scout event at Washington Crossing State Park
(NJ) and a possible event at Nockamixon
State Park, this is the closest
venue for many of us that DVOA will be using this year. The student parking Lot
A at Bucks County Community College
will be used for registration plus the start and finish. Look for orange and
white arrows to direct you as you get close to the college.
All (Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venturers, parents, grandparents, etc.) are
welcome as no experience is necessary. If you haven’t done this before, we can
provide enough instruction to get you on your way and successfully complete the
beginner’s course. The cost is $6 per map (a group of 2 or 3 people can get by
with a single map unless everyone wants their own map, which you get to keep)
for Scouting units, otherwise the cost is $9. If you plan to bring a group that
will need more than a couple of maps, please let me know how many maps you will
need. Since I’m the event director for this meet, please contact me if you need
additional information (215-949-0124, dsevon@verizon.net) plus check DVOA’s website for info, www.dvoa.org.
